Cruise ships too can win awards.

For nine years Cruise Critic have been running their Editors’ Picks Awards, an annual event rewarding the best cruise ships selected by an international team of experts in that field.

Cruise Critic is the major US cruise review website. Launched in 1990 as a travel forum, today it is visited by over five million people a month, having become the leader in providing information about everything to do with cruises and it is now so popular that it has become one of TripAdvisor’s brands.

For the annual awards for the best cruise ships the team of international website editors select for users of the site the best cruise lines and ships to help travellers choose the best cruise line for them.

The prizes are awarded for a variety of services provided by each ship in such categories as best ship for families, best cruise line for romance, best ship of the year, best suites and cabins.

For the first time this year a category has been added for luxury cruising.

“We have added this luxury category for the first time this year in recognition of the services provided in this segment of the cruising market and to provide a clearer picture for travellers interested in this cruising style” says Colleen McDaniel, Managing Editor.

While the Seabourn Cruise Line won the best luxury cruise line award, Viking Ocean Cruises won the prize for the best luxury cruise line spa. Built in 2014-2015 by Spencer Contract S.p.a. and designed by architects SMC Design, the ship won the prize for its spa which includes features from other product designers, Effe included. As well as a swimming pool, hydro-massage tubs, a snow room and more besides, the Viking Ocean Cruises spa offers ergonomic heated loungers in EPS and most importantly, two saunas and a Hammam specially designed by Effe both to meet the rigorous safety standards imposed on all equipment installed on ships and to create the optimum aesthetic effect.

The two saunas feature loft pine, horizontal matchboarding, under-bench LED lighting, saloon-style glass doors and ample glass panelling, while the spacious Hammam has benches on two levels and ceiling-mounted colour therapy.

The saunas and Hammam are remotely controlled from reception to ensure their absolute safety.

Effe: for top-of-the-range spas, at sea too!
